If you follow me on Instagram then it’s crystal clear I love my Gospel Music or “My Music” as my kids have grown to hear me say through the years. Now don’t get it twisted, Gospel is more than just Praise and Worship. Gospel music is just as upbeat and full of bass as any other genre. Let me share with you 3 songs that had me hyped at the gym the other day. Trust me, you need them in your life. Like Now!
I Crave Positive Music
So before I get into that, let me explain why Gospel Music hits the spot for me. I can not think of any other genre of music that DOES NOT rub me the wrong way at some point. Don’t get me wrong I love R&B, Oldies, Blues, and Hip Hop. But there’s only so much I can take of:
- A song full of cursing.
- Somebody crying over how they been used in a relationship.
- Women being degraded.
- Whole songs dedicated to money and material items.
- How someone is looking for sex .
It’s my opinion that just because a song has a good beat, doesn’t mean the lyrics are any good.
Why I Choose Gospel Music
Now compare that to a song that reminds you of how loved you are by the only ONE who will never leave you or forsake you. A song that reminds me that even though life has been rough, I am stronger than I think. Songs that literally wipe my tears away and turn my frown upside down. Songs that nourish my soul.
Gospel music has a way of reminding you to see the positive in the negative. It makes you thankful for life and praise the One who blessed you with it. Nothing but positive vibes pour out the speakers. Full of lyrics I am not ashamed of singing. Nothing else can make me dance like David and give my deflated mood the air it needs to lift my spirits up.
Trust and believe there is a Gospel/Christian song to fit every mood and every situation you have been in and will ever be in.
The other day I decided to finally go to the gym. Unfortunately it had been a horrible morning and I was in a foul mood. I really didn’t to go, but knew these pounds were not going to just fall off on their own. Plus I needed literally work off unnecessary tension and clear my mind.
The second I stepped on the treadmill I put on my headphones and turned on my iPod for some much needed music to get my mind right. The first song to hit my ears immediately got me pumped up and walking straight to a better mood. And yes every single song I listened to is a Gospel song. Check it out!

The 3 Songs
Won’t He Do It – Koryn Hawthorne.
When this song came on I thought of the trials and tribulations I’ve experienced so far in life that seemed impossible. Like I was doomed for life! That is until God stepped in and made the impossible possible! He does it every single time! Yassss! Won’t He Do It!!
I Got That – Anthony Brown and Group therAPy
Makes me think about the many times people say to me I don’t know how you do it. I alway think to myself I Got Jesus with me that’s how. What an amazing feeling to know that you already have the victory. Ayeee! This always immediately cheers me up and I normally get up and dance. Well… I couldn’t dance on the treadmill, but it sure made me turn up the speed and walk faster!
#YDIA You Did It Again – Zacardi Cortez
Reminds me of how God shows me time and time again that He will take care of any and every hurdle that blocks my path again and again. I feel thankful and only want to get closer to him. I may have sinned many times in my own life, yet He continues to show me that he loves me regardless. And in my opinion there ain’t no greater love than that in my book.
So What Do You Think?
So how about you be the judge. All you have to do is hit the play button. Whether you are looking for something new to add to your music collection, or are just a little curious. Take a listen and if you get a burst of energy, reminded of how loved you are, smile, and dance, then add them to your collection.
Don’t worry, I got more songs for you! Music that is powerful, encouraging, and happens to be full of faith. Since this music inspires me I would like to continue sharing and hope it’s an inspiration to you as well in future posts.
